Media Briefs Our LSE Research Assistants have authored Media Briefs for each of the seven countries represented in the Fellowship programme. Background research for the assignment began in November 2004, in consultation with the East African journalists through email and later through discussions and interviews during the course of the Fellowship. The briefs provide an overview of the media climate, level of press freedom, nature of media ownership and the major actors in each country. There is also a useful summary of the local media channels available, some of which are accessible online.
